about

The Pinnacles, Max Ridgway - guitar, recorded on November 21, 2015. The melodic structure corresponds (roughly) to the Indian raga darbari kanada. Didgeridoo, Tibetan bowl, and Japanese bell were added later. The name "the pinnacles" refers to a group of limestone formations in Western Australia. The aboriginal people of this part of Australia are referred to as Nyoongar (also: Nyungar, Noongar). The Nyoongar are said to avoid the area because of their belief that the formations are fossilized ghosts, who have arisen from the open landscape which is exposed to wind, providing no place to rest. However, there must have been some Aboriginal activity in the past because artifacts have been found which are at least 6000 years old.
